Who are we?

Inverness Greenspace envisions an Inverness where all residents have local access to public green spaces. We believe you shouldn't need to drive a car or get on public transit to visit nature. We feel like the land connects us to our history, whether we and our families are from the Highlands or come from abroad. We seek to uplift Gáidhlig and Scots culture in all that we do.We know that the outdoors can connect people across generational and societal boundaries, and we want to facilitate that.Practically, we want to build an inter-generational group which builds more greenspace within Inverness and helps maintain and protect that which we already have.

what are we doing now?

We meet every other week on Sundays at noon at Eden Court to discuss the direction and projects of the group. Outside of regular meetings, we've been planning events like litter picks and working with other local green-minded groups. In the long term, we're considering working within Chapel Yard cemetery in Inverness city centre to maintain that space, as well as to repurpose its land to serve the community. We wish to honour those buried there by providing space for people of all ages to learn their history and connect with their communities.

How can you get involved?

We have a lot of work cut out for us, so we need you! Whether you want to join a Sunday planning meeting, be a part of a litter pick, or help us with email-writing or technical tasks, there are ways for you to become involved. You don't need prior experience; we'll help you learn how to help us. We welcome help from historically othered and disenfranchised communities, and we will help you build the skills to do great things.become a member here
